I Don't Care About Security (And Neither Should You)

May 9, 2018 · Washington, United States of America

Remember when setting up an auth system was easy? Neither do we. From the signup form, the login form, password reset form, and all the validation in between it can easily take weeks if not months to get something basic up and running. Then you have to deal with all the security considerations. No thanks.

During this presentation, Joel Lord (https://twitter.com/joel__lord), Technical Evangelist at Auth0 (https://auth0.com), will introduce us to OpenID (http://openid.net/what-is-openid/) and OAuth (https://oauth.net/2/). Joel will teach us how to leverage these technologies to create secure applications, but most importantly, we will learn why and how to delegate authorization and authentication so we can focus on our real work and forget about all that security stuff.

Attendance is free! We'll have a great space courtesy of Social Tables (https://www.socialtables.com/), and food and drink will be provided by NodeSource (https://go.nodesource.com/nodedc) and StrongLoop (https://strongloop.com/).

Members of the NodeDC community are expected to adhere to our Code of Conduct (https://github.com/NodeDC/CodeOfConduct).
