This is a practical class on how to network both online and offline for both new networkers and experienced hand-shakers.
How it works
We'll start with class, have a practice break with drinks & food, unpack the experience in the 2nd session and then hang out after to further sharpen skills.
You should join us if...
- Events scare you
- You hide with your phone because you feel awkward
- You only go to events if you have a wingperson
- You have no idea how to meet people at events or break into conversation pods
- You meet people at events but never seem to close any deals or develop relationships
- You have no idea why anyone tweets
- You use Instagram for your hobby but never for work- You have 1000 friends & connections - but rarely contact any of them
- You don't followup after you meet people
What You'll Learn
You will learn practical techniques to address social fears, to help you meet people at events without hyperventilating and to turn conversation into useful action.
You will also learn simple social media options for making and nurturing connections, ways to tie in-person connections to your online activities (and visa versa), techniques for being memorable on & offline and other approaches to leveraging your network to achieve your goals.
Networking isn't just for jobs. It's for helping you with sales, funding, ideas and support. It's for the long-term relationships that remind someone of you when they have a position or allow you to reach out when you need an introduction. It's about building professional connections that create value for you and for them. And sometimes it's about building friendships.
And if you aren't networking or aren't doing it effectively...this class is for you.
Gearing up: finding good networking opportunities, creating an introduction and networking pitch, pre-event planning.
Mechanics: how to enter & exit conversations, where to stand for maximum value,
Handling Challenges: how to deal with challenging people, dealing with shyness and other quirks
Effective follow up and how to maximize your networking reach: email followup, twitter and other social media rules, ideas for staying visible without being annoying
After the class there will be optional practice networking so you can put what you've learned to the test!
