Designing for iOS and Android isn’t as simple as porting designs from one platform to the other. In doing so, you run the risk of confusing your users with unfamiliar patterns and behaviors. In addition, developers will spend hours trying to overwrite native interactions and will likely introduce more bugs than the testers are prepared to handle.
It’s important to understand the patterns and behaviors of each platform. In this talk we will discuss the different design strategies used at IceMobile to create the best experience on both iOS and Android (and the many lessons we’ve learned along the way).
Topics will include:
• design approaches and their consequences,
• major platform differences to keep in mind,
• advice from developers (aka your new best friends),
• practical tips to use on your next project.
