Hoarding in Yorkshire, a talk with Dr. Andrew Woods (Senior Curator, Yorkshire Museum)

This talk will examine hoards in Yorkshire. It will touch upon Roman coins, Viking silver and Seventeenth-century cheese, all of which have been a part of hoards concealed in our region. It will consider who, where and why hoards have been hidden over the past 2,000 years.

This workshop is part of our programme of events for our brand new exhibition Money Talks.

Money Talks looks at the wide-ranging impact that money has had on people and how it shapes our perceptions. It raises questions around value and worth, tells stories from across the globe, and discusses more sensitive subjects including gambling and addiction.

COVID19:

Here are some of the ways we’re making our workshops safer:

  • We’re limiting numbers in the Denny Room to `19, including the facilitator.
  • We kindly ask all visitors to sessions to clean their hands regularly. There will be hand sanitiser available in the workshop spaces and around the museum.
  • The windows and doors will be open as much as possible for ventilation. It may be cold!
  • Our staff/workshop facilitator will keep a distance from your group wherever possible.
  • Our staff are encouraged to wear face coverings unless there is an exemption or access reason.
  • We are encouraging adults, unless exempt to wear face coverings.
  • Our spaces and galleries have been assessed with a CO2 monitor for ventilation.
