Alright let's get going and build something! That's the best way to learn : )
Awhile ago, we did a hands-on Intro to React event and built a project together.
You can check out the git repo here ... https://github.com/WomenInTechAllies/IntroToReact
And the project result here ...
We are going to re-do our React "Drinkly" project in Angular. Let's get beyond the typical "Hello World" stuff and have some fun.
- We will go through the basic structure of an Angular project and using the Angular CLI.
- We will talk about some typical libraries you might include and how to do so.
- We will build out some components in Typescript and pull back data from an API.
- We will create models and routing and services .... oh my!
- I will share some great resources for learning and next steps.
Since this is "hands-on" you might want to bring a laptop. We may be able to pair you up with a partner if that is a more comfortable intro for you.
Installing Node, npm and the Angular cli will be required so I will send out some homework before the event to help everyone get set up.
All skill levels are welcome and encouraged : )
5:30 - 6:00 - Meet, greet and get set-up to code out
6:00 - 7:30 - Making magic happen Angular style
7:30 - 8:00 - Wrap up, questions and talking to new friends
You should come ... we always have fun!
We will be meeting @ Insight Digital Innovation (formerly Cardinal Solutions). Same great space, new snazzy logo and I'm sure they have news about new opportunities for 2019. We would like to thank Insight for their continued support for WITA and the tech community in RTP!
New Notes :
We have 50+ people signed up! That might put a strain on the wifi for installing stuff. Your homework is to try to get Angular installed and ready to go on your laptop before 5:30 Wednesday. The steps to do that are available here... https://angular.io/guide/quickstart
If you need help getting through this, I am happy to help you before the meetup tomorrow. I plan to be there around 4:30 to start helping people get setup so please come a little early if you need a little TLC : )
Also, we will be using VS Code as our code editor for this class. It is free to download for both Mac and Windows here ... https://code.visualstudio.com/download. If you decide to use a different editor, no guarantees I will be able to help you with it ... be warned : )
So to summarize:
