for the May edition of our UserGroup we will be hosted by Zalando and have two great talks. The first one will be from Zalando and provide us with an impression of their application deployment on Kubernetes (on AWS) while the second one will show us how to combine Jenkins and AWS CodeBuild to create your own AMIs. Detailed agenda below:
Talk 1 Rodrigo Reis (Zalando): How Zalando Automates Application Development Using Kubernetes on AWS
At Zalando we always strive to provide the best experience for our developers. That's why we came up with the Developer Journey, a comprehensive set of phases in our software development lifecycle. In this context the role of Kubernetes on AWS will be presented in this journey: from fully automated deployments, to compliant by default environments and some developed add-ons. All with the goal to provide a hassle-free application environment that frees up time to developers, so they can focus on the real business use cases of their applications.
Talk 2 Denny Schäfer & Mark Meyer (Smaato): Creating AMIs: Leveraging CodeBuild from Jenkins
Smaato Systems Engineering aims to deliver a new version of our base AMI every Monday morning.
In this talk we'll show how this works across a multitude of accounts and regions in a fully automated way, and how to reap the benefits of both the Jenkins ecosystem and AWS Code* services.
