הנושא הפעם - Chatbots & IoT
Watson Assistant Solutions - Dr. Segev Wasserkrug, IBM Research
Many companies want to enable their customers to interact with them through their own branded personalized assistants. However, building an intelligent personal assistant is much more than just creating a chatbot. Each individual user wants their personal assistant to be personalized, proactive and display intelligence which is beyond simply responding to verbal commands.
In this lecture, we will present Watson Assistant Solutions - an IBM product for creating such assistants. We will discuss the requirements from such personal assistants, the challenges associated with implementing them, and how the architecture and capabilities of Watson Assistant Solutions enables the creation of such assistant - making each end user a VIP.
Segev Wasserkrug is the Lead Architect for Watson Assistant Solutions - an IBM product for creating personalized and proactive personal assistants, as well as a Senior Technical Staff Member at the IBM Haifa Research Lab in the area of AI and IoT . Segev has over seventeen years practical experience in leading, developing and applying advanced analytics, optimization, and, more recently, AI techniques to customer problems in a variety of domains, including conversational applications, automated diagnosis, workforce, logistics, scheduling, and water and wastewater operations. Segev’s current main focus is on enhancing IoT solutions with AI capabilities, focusing on natural human/machine interaction, automated reasoning and semantic knowledge representation.
Segev has a strong background in a variety of areas including probabilistic reasoning, machine learning, optimization, simulation, stochastic modeling, and computer science. Segev received his Ph.D. in information systems engineering, and his M.Sc. and B.A.in computer science from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. Segev has numerous academic publications and patents.
Project Debater - Yoav Katz, IBM Research
Recently, IBM demonstrated, Project Debater, the first AI system to engage in live public debates with humans. It is the latest in a long line of major AI innovations at IBM, which also include “Deep Blue,” the IBM system that took on chess world champion Garry Kasparov in 1997, and IBM Watson, which beat the top human champions on Jeopardy! in 2011. The project , developed by a worldwide team in IBM Research and lead by IBM Haifa & Tel Aviv labs , received much media attention and captured the imagination of many reporters and technology analysts.
In this presentation, I will talk about the motivation for taking on this long term project, highlight some of the key challenges and achievements of the project so far, and discuss how it relates to the current and the future trends in AI.
Yoav Katz is the software architect of Project Debater. He received his Msc. from the Technion in Computer Science, and has been working in IBM Research since 2002. Over the last 5 years, he is leading a team of researchers and engineers, responsible for Project Debater's software infrastructure, performance and reliability.
