Hack nights -- Solving healthcare data-science/AI/ML problems

Oct 29, 2019 · New York, United States of America

Healthcare Hack Nights are a series of part-workshop, part-lab event to explore how AI and machine learning can be applied to healthcare and biological problems.

The aim of these events is to learn a new skill for a healthcare-related problem.

In this session, we'll walk through a cancer gene expression dataset from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and explore how machine learning can be used to identify markers for cancer. In subsequent events, we'll dive deeper into this data set and identify additional areas where ML can be applied.

Spell is a cloud platform that will power our machine learning experimentation for Hack Night. Spell is an end-to-end data science and machine learning platform with the infrastructure and tools to efficiently prepare, train, deploy and manage Machine Learning projects.

Targeted audience:
General public interested in solving healthcare related data problems.

Minimum requirements:
- Basic understanding of either R or Python 3 (Python 3 is the preferred language. The past projects have all been Python 3 based.)
- Interest in solving healthcare related problems
- Basic understanding of data-science, AI and ML
- GitHub account

Interested in AI? Join our group! This group is dedicated to the application of neuroscience, artificial intelligence, medicine, and computer science towards the further understanding and development of artificial intelligence. We also focus on developing the New York MedTech industry.   The goal is to create a laid back place where the spirit of the coffeehouse culture of the Enlightenment meets the modern hackerspace; where people from different disciplines who wouldn't normally meet can exchange ideas,
