Graeme Macrae Burnet: In conversation with Donna Freed

Graeme Macrae Burnet is among Scotland's leading contemporary novelists. He has achieved both critical acclaim and best-selling status around the world. He lives and works in Glasgow, where he studied English literature before taking another degree at the University of St Andrews. After working in television in Scotland, as well as teaching overseas, he was awarded a Scottish Book Trust New Writers Award in 2013, and now writes full-time. He is best known for his dazzling Booker-shortlisted second novel, His Bloody Project, which was also the Saltire Society Fiction Book of the Year 2016, won the Vrij Nederlands award and was shortlisted for the Los Angeles Times Book Awards 2017. Graeme is also the author of two novels featuring Detective Georges Gorski, set in France and written in a style influenced by the prolific Belgian novelist Georges Simenon: The Disappearance of Adele Bedeau (2014) and The Accident on the A35 (2017). They have also been critically acclaimed and translated into several languages. Case Study is his fourth novel.

Donna Freed is a writer, translator and one half of the podcast Radio Gorgeous. She is currently completing work on a memoir – about her two sets of singular parents – for publication in 2022.
