Nationalistic Tendencies: What Future for Global Citizenship?
GlobalNet21 will be taking part in the Global Political Summit at London Met on November 17th where we will look at the tension between nationalistic tendencies and global citizenship.
The idea that a nation should govern itself, free from unwanted outside interference defies the need for some form of globalisation with recent burning issues like climate change, disarmament, genetic engineering and artificial intelligence, which need universal solutions.
And yet promoting the interests of a particular nation or ethnic-nationality with the aim of gaining and maintaining full sovereignty or self-governance is gaining popularity.
So one of the crucial questions of our age is how do we reconcile these two forces and how do we square the circle?
This event will be a whole day one at London Met and GlobalNet21 will be making one of the presentations. Details of this will appear soon.
We will add details of the full programme when we know it.
