Brought to you by FutureGov and Shoreditch Works.
Ben Balter (@BenBalter) is in town, so we're holding the UK's first GitHub Gov Meetup.
Ben is part of GitHub gov team behind government.github.com, a tool to gather, curate, and feature stories of public servants and civic hackers using GitHub as part of their open government innovations.
GitHub was built with code in mind so that developers could work together, no matter where they were. Code, data and words are all simply text, so GitHub's collaboration features go way beyond just benefiting developers. Government agencies at the national, state, and local level are now using GitHub to share and collaborate.
You'll also hear from:
Paul Downey, Government Digital Services (GDS), @psd
Chris Thorpe, @jaggeree
Sarah Kendrew, Astronomer at Oxford University, @sarahkendrew
Merici Vinton + Andy Walker, Made By Many, @merici + @ninjabiscuit
