ABOUT THE PANEL

In these trying times, everyone is searching for a way to relieve their stress and entertain themselves. Since video games have been a big part of entertainment industry for a while now, let's take a look into how videogames impact mental health of the players, how video games promote self care and education about mental health, and finally, how working in the videogame industry and its demanding consumers affect mental health of the developers.

This panel discussion brings together experts and gaming enthusiasts to discuss the important topic of mental health in gaming.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Martina Terlevic is a video game enthusiast and live-streamer, who recently joined Thoughtworks as a Senior Consultant. Her hobbies and passions are video games, live-streaming, The Overanalysts podcast, reading on the Isar, hiking, painting and arguing with her cat and dog about who actually owns the apartment. She is live-streaming twice a week and building a support community at https://twitch.tv/sephtheoverwitch

Renee Gittins is the Executive Director of the IGDA, and a multi-disciplinary leader with expertise in software engineering and creative direction. She is a passionate advocate and connector for developers and diversity in the game industry, with a background that spans across engineering, design, and production. She is outspoken about initiatives to increase diversity both within the game industry and gaming overall to help the game industry grow and improve for everyone.

Rachel Kowert, Ph.D is the research director of Take This (www.takethis.org) and science content creator Psychgeist (www.youtube.com/psychgeist). She is an internationally recognized speaker and author on a range of topics relating to the uses and effects of digital games, including its impact on physical, social, and psychological well-being.
