Frontend ops and Design Language

May 23, 2018 · Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel

We're thrilled to invite you to another Reversim X meetup.

There were many great submissions to the previous Reversim summits but unfortunately there was room for just a few.
In this monthly meetup series, we'll be hearing some of the talks that almost made it in.
Thanks BigPanda for hosting us this month.

The Agenda:

18:00 - 18:15 - Gathering

18:15 - 19:00 - Dafna Rosenblum - Cypress and frontend ops: end to end tests and beyond

We use for end-to-end tests, but we also for two operational use cases:
health check for our frontend app in production, and canary deploy of our frontend app.
In this talk we will present the alternatives, considerations and implementation of our setup.

19:00 - 19:45 - Amit Zur - Reliving the ‘80s with Borland Turbo-C: A test case for Atomic Design

Anyone who got to write C in the 90's on MS-DOS knows this blue screen - not the blue screen of death, the blue screen of Borland Turbo C/C++/Pascal.
30 years after its birth, we are going to implement it using React, MobX and Node.js. I will show you how to implement a design language and think in atomic design, as well as best practices for managing state and componentization. By the end of this talk you’ll have the tools to create and maintain a scalable UI codebase, spiced with the sweet taste of nostalgia.

About the speakers:

Dafna Rosenblum is a senior full stack engineer at BigPanda, technology blogger, owner of the engineering podcast "Extend", and co-founder of HackExtend and "Baot".

Amit Zur is a freelance frontend developer focusing on happiness. Helping organizations build products with design systems and atomic design. These days he’s planning on getting a motorcycle. He’s a strong believer in community, and organizes Goodness Squad, where developers contribute to open source.
