Front-End Performance: Extending the Power of Selenium

Nov 14, 2019 · San Francisco, United States of America

Front-end performance testing is a major part of any testing regime for browser-based applications. However, how can you align this with your larger continuous testing strategy? As testing shifts left, how can you ensure that everyone can uncover performance regressions before they make it into production? If you’ve never run a front-end performance test before, how do you get started? We’ve got you covered!

Join us at Sauce Labs for an exclusive evening with your local Selenium community and Christian Bromann, continuous testing expert, open source advocate, and lead engineer on the DevTools team at Sauce Labs. Christian will share insights into why front-end performance testing is critical for you and your teams, as well as how to to run your first performance test using Speedo, an open source tool that allows you to kick off your first performance tests directly from the command line. Guests will walk away with a better understanding of:

*Why performance testing is a crucial piece of the shift left movement
*How to integrate front-end performance into a larger continuous testing pipeline
*How to leverage existing Selenium tests to gather front-end performance metrics

Christian is visiting us from Germany so we will be having our own Novemberfest (yes, we’re making it a thing), and serving you all delicious Bavarian beers, Bratwursts, and more! Will Christian bring his lederhosen? Will there be soft pretzels? You’ll have to join us to find out. Let’s have a party!

Presenter Bio:
Christian Bromann is the lead engineer at the DevTools team at Sauce Labs and is constantly trying to find ways that allow to automate beyond the WebDriver protocol using browser technologies that already exist today. His passion about open source made him the core maintainer of WebdriverIO, one of the first NPM packages that brought test automation to Node.js.

The SF Selenium Meetup is an open forum where Selenium users of all skill levels can come to communicate, learn, network, or just have a good time. We meet on a semi-regular basis and generally have speakers from major software and web companies in the Bay Area. Lively discussions or Q&A for hours afterwards. Our focus is in Selenium and topics extend through related areas of interest, such as Agile
