Florida Data Science for Social Good

Sep 24, 2019 · Jacksonville, United States of America

NOTE: We've changed location. This month's meetup will be at Veterans United Craft Brewery.

This month, we are super excited to have the Florida DSSG back. Every year, the interns do something incredible!

Florida Data Science for Social Good (FL-DSSG) hosted at the University of North Florida (UNF) program is an intensive 12-week internship that invites students to tackle data-rich projects that have the potential for substantial social impact. During the meetup talk, FL-DSSG interns will discuss findings and reveal insights gained from the Cathedral Arts Project, Children's Services Council, Feeding Northeast Florida, GTM Research Reserve, and Starting Point Behavioral Healthcare projects. Florida Data Science for Social Good (FL-DSSG) program assists nonprofit and public sector organizations with answering their research questions, evaluating programs, and making data-driven decisions. The UNF Foundation funds 2019 FL-DSSG Internship program. FL-DSSG is a partnership between the Nonprofit Center for Northeast Florida and the UNF.

The meetup will start at 5:30, with pizza, beer, and soft drinks, and the talk will start around 6pm. We'll wrap up with questions and be done around 7:30.

Huge thank you to our sponsor: NLP Logix You love big data sets, the surprise of unexepected findings, speaking the secret language of hidden patterns. You are not alone! Let's keep it informational but relaxed. In an expanding field like Big Data, we will not be short for potential topics to discuss as a group. Because of the broad skill sets required in the field, we could learn a great deal from one another. Key Words: Big Data, Data Science, Data Scientist, Data Analysis, Data Mining,  Statistics, Stat
