Graph databases - what, why and how? by Rik Van Bruggen
Graph databases are the "4th pillar" of NOSQL databases. The innovative and intuitive property graph datamodel allows for easy and agile development of connected business applications. Rik Van Bruggen from Neo4j will come and discuss+show the details in this talk"
Speaker: Rik Van Bruggen is the regional vice president Neo4j in Europe. He has been working for startup companies for most of his career, and while he has a fond technical interest, really is passionate about business - and about Belgian Beer.
Home Automation using Raspberry PI, Home Assistant and some elbow grease by Pieter Helsen
Home automation is more than installing a few Philips HUE light bulbs and controlling them from your phone. When done right, you will hardly notice it is there, but you will miss it when it is gone.
It is still very much a continuing journey for me and I hope to finish the project by summer, but in this talk, I hope to show you some of the things I've learned, not just about the technical side of things, but also about the practical side of home automation and how it impacts user experience.
Speaker: Pieter is the CTO at Rombit, our host for this evening. With a background in Actionscript and PHP and his programming days long gone, he has to resort to the side-projects in his free time. From Python-based command-line games to his latest endeavour using YAML and React for Home Automation purposes.
