February 2015 meetup
The landscape of mobile development is changing fast (https://medium.com/dev-rocket/the-jungle-of-mobile-html5-development-b06cca1f671d) and every day we discover new tools that will make our job easier for developing applications. Furthermore, we have to be comfortable composing those different technologies together (mobile, web, databases, aws, testing…). As a result, we think the learning experience can be challenging. It's hard to think outside of the tools we use every day (be it a platform, language or framework). We want to make that easier for you.
And also because after all, it’s all about choosing the right tool for the job.
So if we can reach out to different tech in a same evening, we hope that interesting conversations will spring out. That’s why from today, we’ve renamed the meetup to Dev Rocket!
Furthermore, we received all your feedback and we think that having multiple talks of 10 - 15 minutes (shorter length) is a format that could encourage more diversity in the topics and knowledge sharing.
Two talks are booked in so far (see below) so feel free to reach out if you would like to present there.

Offline-first Mobile Apps by James Nocentini
Sync sucks. If you’ve spent any time adding offline support to your apps, you know what we're talking about. You want to spend your time delivering features, and Couchbase Mobile is here to help. You will learn about modelling data on Android, building a responsive UI with Live Queries and adding sync in less than 5 minutes.
We’re very excited to announce we will be at Makers Academy.
You probably already know them, they do fully immersive bootcamps, the kind that transform keen learners into junior web developers in just 12 weeks. If you want to brush up on your server side skills in a hurry, they're great people to talk to.
And we will have great food and beers provided by Couchbase.
Couchbase is a database solution that delivers the full power and flexibility of NoSQL from server to mobile. It's engineered to provide fast and consistent access to your data, with or without a network connection, removing the network dependency. Check out the Android SDK on github https://github.com/couchbase/couchbase-lite-android.
Hope to see you soon!
