Experience Design through the Lens of Creativity
Everything we experience is a design - of your use, time, and energy. For the whole system of experience to thrive, it is therefore essential to be creative when we design experiences.
The field of Experience Design looks at all aspects of the human experience (environment, interactions and communication of the individual and community) and seeks to improve, enhance or redesign it altogether.
It draws from a multitude of other disciplines such as psychology; environmental, service and interaction design; as well as storytelling.
This talk and workshop will teach you how to develop your creativity and apply Experience Design to every aspect of work - whether it be a problem, a plan, a system or product.
Some of the skills we will explore include developing a creative practice, the ability to see every interaction as an experience to be designed, facilitated ideation, and the use of low fidelity prototyping and roleplaying to create empathy, visualise ideas, and test experiences.
**Who is Liz?
Liz Dom is a qualified artist and designer from Johannesburg, South Africa. What started out as dabbling in social media, quickly turned into a career with Inquisition and SiGNL, which put her through a business school, of sorts. From marketing a messaging app giant in Africa to a French cultural institute's efforts in South Africa, she earned her stripes in advertising and content design.
As Inquisition's business model changed, they realised they'd been doing design all along, which led to where she finds herself today: Head of Content and designer of many areas such as teams, culture, service and experience, to name a few.
She's a believer in the combination of art, business and technology for good and is an Organiser for the OpenIDEO Johannesburg Chapter, as well as a co-founder of The GoodWork Society
