The next UX Joburg meetup has been scheduled, please diarise this now (Thursday, 22nd September). We're changing the timings to a weekday (we used to hold them on a Saturday). We'll give this a try and see what attendees think.
We've got two great talks planned for the evening. Our first speaker is Vu Sisulu (ThoughtWorks, @Vuyisile_Sisulu). Vu will share interesting stories from projects he's working on.
Speaker: Vu Sisulu (@Vuyisile_Sisulu)
Synopsis: Stories from the UX trenches
Biography: Vu is a UX Designer from ThoughtWorks. When not talking about UX he's 'doing' it.
Speaker: Charlotte Ziob (@ziobc)
Synopsis: Something that has defined my viewpoint as a designer is the idea of ethics and morals in design. Questions I spend a lot of time thinking about: when is technology not the best solution? Who teaches our bots and algorithms, and what biases do we build into them? How do we build an ethical and moral lens into our design process? I’ll also introduce critical/speculative design, which has informed a lot of my thinking in this area.
Biography: I’m a designer at Inquisition and have a Bachelors of Design in Interaction Design from the University of Washington in Seattle. I’m passionate about how design can be used to encourage learning and discovery.
Hope to see you there.
