Effectively Applying Emotional Intelligence to your Scrum Team

Feb 20, 2018 · San Francisco, United States of America

Emotional Intelligence (EQ) focuses on understanding the feelings of others while understanding our own feelings (aka empathy). In high paced Agile environment, we tend to forget about EQ as we are under a tight deadline and at times have Scrum Team members that may be remote from where we are.

This interactive workshop will help you learn how to apply EQ as a valuable part of your leadership tools to better understand your Scrum Teams and focus back on better understanding how you are conveying the message to your Scrum Teams.

Activities will include:
- Role playing of applying EQ from the Leader/Scrum Master perspective and being the Scrum Team Members receiving the level of EQ
- Reflection on how effective the exercise was

OUR SPEAKER: Isaac Avina Jr. Isaac is a Scrum Master at Capital One supporting scrum teams for the development of the company's developer exchange, to help developers write their APIs both internally and externally. Prior to Capital One he worked at Aetna, US Airways, and American Express. Isaac is passionate about Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and is currently working on his doctoral dissertation with EQ being the topic of it. Isaac also uses EQ with his current scrum teams therefore showing how EQ can be leveraged and is important in a high paces agile environment.
