Dynamic Templates in Angular & Angular CLI 6 Update + Libraries + TypeScript 2.8

Apr 18, 2018 · Surry Hills, Australia

So, we are back this month!
We are meeting in a new venue this time, a cool place that hosted other groups for design and data analytics and more.

The best part? We're still a walking distance from Central Station. A shorter walking distance actually.

Now, let's get to the meat of it.

This time we are going with a simple format. A long session from Roger about ADVANCED Angular stuff. All the fun with dynamic Angular templates. Some of you might remember Roger from previous meetups, he is awesome.

Then an open talk where we can discuss all the new Angular CLI shiny stuff that allows seamless Angular application upgrades, and the ability to generate libraries too, and how this is different from Nrwl Nx libraries. We should also have time to dig into Conditional Types in TypeScript 2.8, and how RxJS 6 is shaping.

And this is all if Angular v6 is not out till ng-conf, otherwise, that'll be the main topic for the Open Talk of course.

It's standard, pretty logical, and really helpful for our venue preparations. We just need you to:

1) RSVP "Yes" super quick if you are coming (for catering prep etc)

2) And update your RSVP status to "No" if you can't make it (so that we keep it realistic)

** PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Rsvp quick this time so we get realistic numbers of who's coming! **

Our hosts need to go home on time too!

== How to Incorporate Dynamic Content (both Templates and Components) into your Angular app (by Roger Kermode)

In this talk we'll walk through a couple of the blog posts from Max NgWizard on his Angular in Depth blog that peek under the hood to see how the compiler takes a template and builds a working component using View Containers and Factories.

Next we'll show how we can use this knowledge to create an application that can include dynamic content with templates and components that are dynamically incorporated at run time.

Finally, we'll show a demo of how we're applying these techniques in Incyzr within a commenting engine that pulls comments in the form of HTML templates containing angular components that are compiled dynamically into the Inczyr web app.

== Open Talk (by Everyone)

Open Talk sessions are facilitated by Meligy, but the real speaker is often most of the people in the crowd. We get to discuss latest releases, tips & tricks, questions & issues, and a lot more.

The most exciting things coming out recently beside the recent Angular Material versions seem to be Angular CLI v6 enhanced `ng update` support, and the ability to generate libraries using the CLI for the first time. There's also TypeScript 2.8 especially the Conditional Types feature, and RxJS v6 is taking shape too, beside many other Angula related libraries.

Will we have enough time for all of these? Of course not, let's see how far we'll get while having fun though!

Remember, you also get the choice to take Open Talk in any direction you want by just starting it!
