Speakers' details and partial abstract:

1. Brian Byrne is a veteran IT Manager, who remembers Mainframes, FORTRAN, COBOL as if it were like yesterday.

When not planning community events on Linux, Raspberry Pi and IoT device he speaks in paragraphs and drinks a lot of tea. Brian doesn’t take himself or others too seriously.

He does a lot, a lot of Linux, but not exclusively so. Linux was his ~15th+ operating system in the early 1990s.

2. David Spurway has over 23 years of experience within IBM Systems. He started work with IBM in 1995.

David has worked in a variety of roles, including Support, Technical Sales, Implementation, Management and Systems Architecture. He now works as the IBM Power Systems CTO for the UK and Ireland.

He has been certified as an Advanced Technical Expert in AIX, and has also been Technically Certified for IBM Power Systems, IBM System z and IBM System x. Over the years, he has presented at a range of internal and external conferences, including those run by the IBM Academy of Technology.
