dotBrighton Geek Night: Regular Expressions & Git

Lately it's all been about the creativity, but we never forget: we're a geek group at heart. To address this slight imbalance we're putting on a night of unbridled nerdery with two of the most technical topics around: Git and Regular Expressions. Regular Expressions aren't exactly the "in" thing but as a language agnostic way of manipulating strings, they are an immensely powerful tool that no programmer should be without. In this session, Paul Hayes will look at examples of classic RegEx solutions to classic problems, Regular Expressions in ActionScript, classic pitfalls and a RegEx pub quiz to finish it off, with a prize so spectacular he hasn't even thought of it yet! Plus George Bashi will demystify the version control system Git for you. Starting with a Git 101 George will cover as much ground as he can, culminating in a demonstration of some of the cool stuff that people have done with Git.
