Docker/Splunk: Get the most from monitoring engines & aggregating container logs

May 31, 2017 · McLean, United States of America

“Docker and Splunk: How to get the most value from monitoring your engines and aggregating container logs”

Doug has a broad spectrum of experience in systems design, development and operations support spanning the commercial and defense industries. Systems environments have included Docker, OpenShift v3, iOS/Objective C, Java/JBoss and C/Linux in large and small scale applications in both self hosted and cloud architectures such as Amazon AWS.

Containerized applications and environments can generate lots of logs with valuable information but viewing the logs on a per container basis can quickly get out of control.  There are various methods of accessing these container logs and engine related events but it is advantageous to integrate them into a log aggregation environment. This meetup will cover various approaches to effectively capture and forward container data to a Splunk server and then do more than just look at log entries.
