Design Thinking Workshop: Empower Young Female Entrepreneurs

Dec 5, 2019 · Chicago, United States of America

Interested in learning how to apply design thinking in a hands-on environment? Want to see how real strategists apply design thinking to solve challenges? Excited to help a local non profit empower young women through entrepreneurship?

Casecomps is hosting a design thinking session in partnership with Metis Chicago and local nonprofit YEA Chicago to teach critical design thinking techniques to passionate data experts, UI/UX designers, and business strategists while solving a real problem in the community. Light bites and refreshments will be provided.

About the organizers: Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) is a groundbreaking program that transforms local middle and high school girls into real, confident entrepreneurs. Through the year-long program, girls in grades 6-12 generate business ideas, conduct market research, write business plans, pitch to a panel of investors, and launch their very own companies. Casecomps is a local Chicago startup focused on connecting professionals to employers through fun, creative challenges. Metis accelerates data science learning for individuals, companies, and institutions through corporate training and accredited, immersive boot camps.

What you’ll do: Apply real design thinking techniques to help YEA Chicago expand its yearly young women participants from 20 to 100 in 2020. Participants will be broken into teams, walked through design thinking activities, and present solutions at the end of the event. Winning teams of the friendly competition will be invited to take a tour of mHub, Chicago’s physical product accelerator, with the founder of Casecomps.

Schedule:

  • 6pm to 6:30pm: Check-in, network, & grab pizza
  • 6:30pm to 8:15pm: Design thinking activities
  • 8:15pm to 8:30pm: Presentations & awards
