Data wrangling is so noughties!

Aug 2, 2018 · Oxfordshire, United Kingdom

Data wrangling is so noughties! Learn how to quickly retrieve, transform, combine, model and visualise data with Microsoft Power BI.

If you’re spending a lot of time wrestling with data before using it to add value to your endeavours, then you need to check this Power BI thing out. And even if you’re not, you should still come to see what’s possible!

Power BI is an exciting and important element of Microsoft’s data and analytics platform tools suite. It’s available on the desktop in Power BI Desktop and Excel, and in the cloud with Power BI Online. Power BI enables you to develop insights from your data with interactive data ingestion, cleansing, transformation and visualizations capabilities that make it easy to use and see patterns and relationships.

In this talk we'll go on a brief tour of the main features of Power BI so you can understand its core capabilities and appreciate how to work with its various components to go from raw data to insights – fast!

We'll make this real for you by showing how Oxford Economics uses it with their own global economic models and forecasts – mashing data together from different sources, then cleaning and transforming it to make it easy to explore, visualise and share with stakeholders.

Presenter: Dr Arvindra Sehmi, CIO | Director of IT & Software Development @ Oxford Economics Ltd. | website | linkedin
