Speaker bios

Emma Mawby is a Senior Advisor in the Data Leadership and Capability team at Stats NZ. She designed the Data and Statistical Capability Framework (DSCF). The DSCF is a conceptual framework that uses common language to describe data and statistical capability. By linking tasks done to capabilities demonstrated, it can be used to identify training needs and opportunities for career development. The DSCF is being used at Stats NZ to assist with the transition to a new job family for statistical, data and analytic roles.

Guy Day is currently a Delivery Manager at Potentia Recruitment. He specialises in providing recruitment & advisory services across the data & digital sectors across New Zealand. With a particular passion for data science and advanced analytics, Guy is fascinated by the ever-changing landscape that is controlled by 'data-driven' decision making. Typically, he gains the most satisfaction by supporting niche & innovative organisations to achieve their deliverables and milestones through effective use of data as well as providing career guidance and support for people at all levels (from graduate through to CDO)

Kate Kolich joined SIA in December 2018 as Director Data Systems & Analytics. Prior to joining SIA Kate had a number of data and technical leadership roles in the financial services industry most recently at BNZ as Head of Enterprise Data and Information Services where she was at the forefront of leading data and analytics transformation teams and strategic initiatives.

Dr. Paul Bracewell has an award winning PhD research under his belt, numerous peer reviewed publications, as well as many years of growing and inspiring analytics professionals to solve business problems. He is a partner at Dot Loves Data, where he leads the team that does all the slicing and dicing. He was most recently a General Manager at Dun and Bradstreet (600 employees).
