Bank of Ireland has given us the opportunity to reschedule the meetup we had to cancel due to the snowfall. The session will take place on the 26th of April in the BOI Startlab in 88th Lower Camden Street. We hope to meet your all there where we will learn from our two awesome speakers:

- Jamie Renehan, Customer Analytics Manager @Bank of Ireland: "Customer Journey Analytics"

Jamie is a Customer Analytics Manager and qualified Accountant with 15 years experience across Financial Services, Data and Analytics. He has played a leading role in the design, development and delivery of innovative Business Intelligence, Data Analytics and Enterprise Reporting Solutions across a wide range of sectors including Insurance, Financial Services, Healthcare, Aviation, Medical Device, Oil & Gas, Tech and Utilities.

Jamie will be presenting on the topic of Customer Journey Analytics, where he will be exploring ways to visualize and analyze the paths customers take, over time and across multiple channels to drive intelligent, personalized customer engagement.

- Eric Mehes, Senior Data Scientist @Ding: Recommender Systems - A Gentle Introduction

Eric Mehes is a former Research Engineer in the Customer Data Platform team at Zalando Dublin. Part of his work consists of implementing and gauging the performance of recommender systems used for personalising & streamlining the experience of Zalando users. His is just starting a new role as Senior Data Scientist in Ding.

The scope of this talk is to give a broad overview over the design of a recommender system, different challenges posed along the way, and ways of determining the efficiency of the chosen recommender. Such systems are used all across the web to personalise the delivery of content to customers. Whether on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Spotify, Netflix, Amazon or Zalando, all the content you observe is filtered and ranked by a recommender engine that was carefully tweaked to give you the content that you are most likely to engage with. Such systems use both explicit feedback mechanisms (likes, upvotes, stars rated, hearts) and implicit ones (time spent looking at content, previously clicked on content, etc), and the content served requires the recommender to be tuned for most use-cases.
