We make the tools, then it makes us. The constant iteration of IxD craftmaking involves a persistent dialogue between the maker, the tool, and the platform. And sometimes, it consumes us — if we let it.
In this event, we're proud to introduce Andre Jay Meissner (Jay) from Adobe XD and Iain McConchie (Konch) from the App Business to present their views and stories about prototyping and experimenting around the very tools we design with.
In true IxDA London style, we'll raise from the dead debates around Axure and pour scorn over the firehose of new tools coming out each day, and then find out what it takes to build such a tool. Through it all, we'll press into the heart of what really matters — crafting and communicating effective design outcomes.

Please note that this month's event is on Thursday 22 June — we will not be running our usual last-Wednesday-of-the-month time slot.
Refunds: We only refund tickets if you cancel at least 24 hours in advance or check in with us at the event and stay to the end. We don't do this to make money (we get nothing for ourselves) but to be fair to the people that want to participate and engage in the sessions throughout the whole evening.
Tools critique — Iain McConchie, The App Business
Prototyping is an essential aspect of Interaction Design but it seems like a new prototyping tool comes out every other day. As Designers should we be investing our time on learning all these new tools or just sticking with what we know? Konch will reflect on their approach at The App Business while discussing some of the tools that have helped them with their most recent projects.
In his role as Head of Design at The App Business Konch is constantly focussed on delivering the best possible experiences for users (and the businesses) he works for. Drawing on his background working at MTV and Disney prior to TAB he always strives to respond the constraints of brief by leveraging the right blend of craft, design and technology.
