The objective of this talk is to understand how to create a process to align NIST & CNSSI RMF security requirements to AWS services GovCloud and similar AWS Regions or Azure Secret. The presentation examples include AWS S3 or Azure Blob Storage or other similar cloud service providers. The talk will cover lessons learned and specific technical configurations discovered and created to address federal security requirements to create specific organizational security requirement guides and security technical implementation guides.
Discussion will provide specific scenarios from two separate US government organizations that have completed similar work and how their work has paved a road for other US government organizations to do the same.
PRESENTER RICHARD HIGH’S BIO:
Dr. Richard High has over two decades of professional experience and three decades of personal experience in cybersecurity operations, hacking with red, purple, and blue teams. During his career, he served as a Cyber Ops commissioned officer for the US Air Force, worked for 7 years with the FBI and currently supports DHS I&A. His private sector involvement has him operating his own company, High-Tech Security LLC, providing cybersecurity consulting to Spanish speaking companies in Central and South America spanning from energy to telecommunications services corporations. He holds numerous industry certifications from (ISC)2 EC-Council, ISSA, AWS, Microsoft, Scrum Alliance, and DoD. He holds a bachelor of science degree in Computer Science, master's of science degree in Info Tech & Cybersecurity, and a doctorate's of science degree in Information Assurance and Cybersecurity.
Dr. High was nominated for an (ISC)2 award in 2011 and is a Fellow at the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA), an international organization of information security professionals. He is a highly decorated military officer with numerous deployment tours supporting OIF, OEF, OIR, and HOA.
