Location Update: Soho Bar, 3rd Floor meeting room
We meet every month to have 2 talks focussed on Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technology, talking about Consortium/Public Blockchain, Storage, Consensus, Identity, Smart Contracts, etc.
This month we have the following confirmed:
TALK 1: Consortium Blockchains - Johannes Ahlmann
What are Consortium Blockchains, what are they good for, are they just bad distributed databases, and which solutions are available?
The talk will go into critera whether a distributed ledger is a good idea for you at all, what technologies are available, and what their respective pros and cons are (HyperLedger Fabric/ Sawtooth/ Burrow, Quorum, Monax, etc.)
TALK 2: Workshop
Figure out what we as a group would like to focus on (consensus, fault tolerance, smart contracts, etc.). Aidan from Bitcoin Cork and Seán Lynch from OpenLitterMap may share some of their perspectives, and we can together design our own "Blockchain in Practice" schedule ;)
All people with any sort of an interest or level of knowledge in Blockchain, Cryptography, Distributed Ledgers are more than welcome to attend and feel free to bring like minded colleagues and friends.
Our talks come from our community so if you have an idea for a topic (anything for 10-60 minutes) please email us at [masked]. Whether you are an experienced presenter, or presenting for your first time - Cork Blockchain is a great venue for it - and we are happy to help you prepare and mentor you.
Doors open at 19:00 with talks starting at 19:15.
