//// Topic ////
Coding and accessibility. It can go together hand in hand in many ways.

Like, you can have an illness or handicap that keeps you from certain activities and careers. Coding can make a nice (we think at least) career quite accessible when you can work behind a computer. Bonus points: a lot of coding jobs you can also do remotely.

On another level software and thus coding can make the world more accessible for those for whom it isn't. For example an app on your phone can play audio description in your ears, while you attend a movie at the cinema with your friends. Without the audio description your impaired vision would make it impossible to follow the plot and thus a lot less likely you'd go on such an activity which is so normal for people who can see.

A smaller example is making sure as a coder you fill in all the alt-texts on your images for people who access your page with a screen reader.

Though coding and accessibility thus can go hand in hand together in several ways, and we're sure everyone can make an argument why it's an important topic, it still often is overlooked.

Tonight we'll tackle the topic from three angles: how coding makes a career accessible, why accessibility in software is extremely important and how software can make the world more accessible.
