Meetup.com is a very popular online service for organizing local in-person events based around a variety of topics. At the Assembly, we use Meetup extensively to expand and engage with our community. One of the lesser known yet very impressive parts of the Meetup suite is their well-documented, easy-to-use APIs, which share a great deal of data regarding events and communities with 3rd party applications.
In this workshop, we’ll use Python to extract specific data from the API then statistically analyze and visualize it using a variety of tools. For the purpose of this session, we’ll be using Jupyter Notebooks, the web-based computational interface for data in Python, and the team will walk you through using this valuable online tool for your projects.
