Building Voice Experiences with the Amazon Alexa Skills Kit
Alexa, the voice service that powers Amazon Echo, provides a set of built-in abilities, or skills, that enable customers to interact with technology via voice. Developers are also able to create custom skills. These skills can be published in the Alexa App Store and used by any consumer with an Alexa powered device.
Some examples of these today include Uber, Spotify and Domino’s Pizza. During this session we will talk about why we believe that voice is the future of user experience, provide an overview of the Alexa Engine, and finally demonstrate how to build custom Alexa skills with the Alexa SDK and the AWS cloud.
Dean Bryen is a technology evangelist for Amazon Alexa, where he helps developers create voice-driven experiences. Prior to joining the Alexa team, Dean spent two years in Amazon Web Services as a Solutions Architect.
Dean has over 10 years of experience in the IT industry, in various capacities, including engineering, operations, and architecture across hosting and cloud providers. He is passionate about Voice UX, IoT, Devops, Server-Less computing and all things startup.
