COURSE DESCRIPTION

This is an intensive full day loaded with learning and knowledge transfer, a course in building a crypto trading system using Python. You will walk away with a deep understanding of the skill needed to build these apps, core business concepts, how to work with exchanges, websockets, 0x exchanges, machine learning and more. We'll use libraries like pandas, matplotlib and NumPy to build a trading system and analyze trade data, time series and charting. Python experience is not required but basic programming experience is.

Foundations Module

1 - Traverse the Bitcoin blockchain and extract data
2 - Display BTC FX exchange rates
3 - Display BTC blockchain stats (hash rate, tx rates, etc.)
4 - Generate a BTC wallet
5 - Generate a multisig BTC wallet
6 - Pulling pricing information from CoinMarketCap.com
7 - Traverse the Ethereum blockchain and extract data
8 - Plotting Ethereum pricing using Matplolib
9 - Retrieving the Coindesk Bitcoin Price Index

Exchange Data

10 - Retrieve list of crypto products from an exchange (Coinbase)
11 - Retrieve and analyze the L1 order book
12 - Retrieve and analyze the L2 order book
13 - Retrieve and analyze the L3 order book
14 - Retrieving recent trades made on Coinbase
15/16 - Plotting trade time series using Plot.ly

Building Your Trading System

17 - Constructing and using a blotter data structure
18 - Adding VWAP pricing into the blotter
19 - Tapping into and receiving data feeds using asynchronous Websockets
20 - Constructing and using a PnL data structure
21 - Executing a trade into an exchange with confirms
22 - Calculating and embedding VWAP
24 - Using SciPy for standard deviation (volatility) minization in an allocation portfolio
25 - Connecting to and retrieving taker / maker data from 0x decentralized exchanges
26 - Understanding and generating trade signals
27 - BONUS (if time permits) - Retrofit the trading system into a web app using Flask and Bootstrap

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Professor Jamiel Sheikh is CEO of Chainhaus and organizer of the Blockchain NYC Meetup with over 20 years of experience with distributed computing, application development and complex large-scale enterprise solutions as a coder and architect. Jamiel currently runs one of the largest Blockchain Meetup groups in NYC and in the US with over 4,000 active enthusiasts. Chainhaus is an advisory and development firm that specializes in complex blockchain and cryptocurrency solutions, tokenomics, decentralized applications, and marketing.

Jamiel is a graduate professor at Columbia, NYU and CUNY, where he teaches blockchain, performance management and data science respectively. He has an MBA from Columbia University, BBA from Baruch College and is completing an MS in Artificial Intelligence from Georgia Institute of Technology.
