Our next meetup will be held on the 10th February at 68 Middle Street. Speaking this month, we have THE Joe Birch from ribot.
Wednesday the 10th February, doors at 1830 with talks kicking off at 1900.
Joe Birch - Android TV: Building apps with Google’s Leanback library
In this talk we'll be looking at how we can create Android TV apps with the help of Google's leanback library.
After a brief introduction to the TV platform and an open-source Vine TV app I've built, we'll move straight into how you can begin building applications for yourself using the leanback library - following best practices along the way. We'll take a look at the different components that are provided by the framework and how you can craft custom components of your own to enhance your applications UX.
Seeing as Android TV applications are completely testable, we'll also take a brief look at how this can be done to ensure your app functions as expected!
Show & Tell:
We love to give the opportunity for people to share a minute or two on something of interest. Be it a recent/current project, a new library or a tool etc.
As an added bonus, Jetbrains.com have given us some licences to give away, and so we will pick someone who has stood up and shared something to win a licence.
As always we will have beers and pizza aplenty and It will be a chance to meet and hang out with some like minded people from the mobile industry.
Open to all experience, abilities, job roles & stages. Whether you're from a mobile dev company, a freelancer or just dabbling into mobile for the first time, we'd love you to join us.
This event is totally free, we just need to know how much beer and pizza to get in so no-one goes hungry!
Afterwards we will head round the corner to the Seven Stars on Ship street for post-event drinks and mingling!
Look forward to seeing you on the 10th!
