The navigation, diagnostics, configuration, life-cycle, and operations of systems and environments can be controlled by DSC and captured through UpGuard.  By providing insight into DSC states, UpGuard can help understand configurations across complex heterogeneous environments and help administrators safely extend resilient system definitions. 

Ryan Munsch is a solutions engineer that figured out manipulating complex data sets in Exchange email systems is infinitely more fun with PowerShell than through a GUI.  That skill set led to an interest in writing DSC configurations and by extension leveraging UpGuard to help him understand everything he misconfigured.
