This month we will have three (maybe four) fantastic speakers for you discussing where the future lies within blockchain. Right now everyone is caught up in the ICO / fundraising bubble and it is imperative that we look at real world use cases of this technology. Blockchain is the future, but where do we go beyond piles of money and Lambos?

RACHEL BLACK - BLOCKCHAIN AND YOUR IDENTITY

In an age of invasive and intrusive data collection, can blockchain be used to bring about greater user ownership of data?

Storing personal information is hard, costly and often detrimental to user privacy. Rachel’s talk follows the the evolution of identity management from centralised to distributed and self sovereign. Exploring the problems and possibilities as we enter the new world of decentralised identity.

ALASTAIR BAND - RIDICULOUS THINGS THAT ONLY HAPPEN IN CRYPTO

With a lack of regulation, you get some pretty funny things happening in blockchain. Alastair will talk you some of his favourites that he has seen over the past few months.

Hold on tight and bring a sense of humour as we enter a parallel universe where anything goes!

ANGUS MAIDMENT - BLOCKCHAIN: A FOUNDATION FOR THE FUTURE

Blockchain technology is certainly hot right now and there is a whole lot going on in the space! But what can we do with it in the future?

This month, we will take a look at the grand vision of some blockchain business models, and how they interact with the other key pillars of the new "smart" future as seen by the technological utopians - namely AI, Big Data, Cloud computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

This talk will necessarily be more conceptual than previous talks Angus has delivered, and will focus on a larger timescale and broader perspective to ask questions about how this disruptive shift will change the way people travel, work, socialise and even govern entire societies.

As always with these events there will be pizza and beer provided, this month kindly sponsored by Yoti

Doors will open at 6:30pm with talks starting at 7pm sharp.

Agenda:

- 6:30pm Doors open and drinks and pizza reception
- 7:00pm Rachel Black
- 7:30pm Angus Maidment
- 8:00pm A N Other
- 8:30pm More drinks and networking
- 9:30pm PUB!

Please arrive before 7pm, due to security within the building it will cause a lot fewer headaches!
