This month, we have Lawrence Matthews from Yelp talking about their efforts with AWS. In his own words:
Yelp have begun using Amazon Web Services to reproduce their existing physical infrastructure with a view to being able to spin up virtual data centres wherever and whenever they are needed. This talk will show the progress so far, what they’ve learned in the process, and where they plan to take it in the future.
Lawrence works in the operations team as a web operations engineer for Yelp. Previously he worked at Future Publishing, where he was introduced to devops concepts, and has since been keen to automate and hand off to computers all the boring parts of the job. He lives in London, but will soon be fleeing to San Francisco, and in his spare time collects vintage video games and plays Magic.
As always, meeting space, beers and pizza generously provided by Engine Yard.
Please note - There is no access to Engine Yard before 7.15. Talks will start at 7.30
