August - Mental Health

Aug 16, 2017 · Staffordshire, United Kingdom

This month we're focussing on the importance of mental health with a talk from Trevor Adams.

We'll be at the Apothecary (formally The Post House) on Wednesday 16th August. We'll be there from 6pm with talks starting at 7pm.

As with all our events, we welcome both newcomers and existing members. It's free to attend, there's free food and a drink waiting!

There is plenty of free parking available around Stafford. We recommend visiting Parkopedia to see all of the available parking. Tenterbanks Car Park is likely the closest. However, spaces are limited. Broad Street Car Park is just a short walk way. Both Tenterbanks Car Park and Broad Street Car Park are free after 5:30pm.

Thanks to our sponsors for this event – iWeb and The Deskspace Project, run by TopCashback’s Charity (TopCharity).

Open Sourcing Mental Illness
Trevor Adams

In some parts of the world, the burden of mental health disorder is the largest of all disorder categories; but it seems like very few people are talking about it. A world wide problem will undoubtedly impact upon our narrower technical community. So, when it comes to mental health in our community and workplace; where do we begin?

This presentation will provide some context to mental health in the tech community and highlight some of the work being done by Open Sourcing Mental Health.

Discussion Session (Lean Coffee)
Trevor Adams

Our interpretation of Lean Coffee, a fast paced open discussion. Using sticky notes, during the break people will post up questions or talk topics. You will have the opportunity to vote for the sticky notes that you find the most interesting. We'll then open the floor for a short discussion on each topic.
