This workshop aims to teach participants of all backgrounds the basics of Angular webapp development. We’ll start with a brand new project and learn how we can use Components, Directives, Services, Data Binding, Routing, etc. to build a modern Single Page Application.

We’ll have great mentors and guides helping us out for the evening, so you’ll be sure to get a lot of one-on-one support. Let’s start making Angular app!

There is a baseline knowledge required for this workshop. You need to be familiar with HTML, and Typescript/JavaScript in order to meaningfully participate.

If you have no experience with HTML, and TypeScript/JavaScript but are keen on participating, please complete these short tutorials online before attending:

Please bring your own laptop (Windows/Mac)

Please come prepared with the following tools installed on your machine prior to the workshop.

1) Node.js & NPM
Install Node.js and npm if they are not already on your machine. (

Click download the LTS version and install

Verify that you are running at least node 6.9.x and npm 3.x.x by running the following commands in terminal/console:
=> node -v
=> npm -v

Older versions produce errors, but newer versions are fine.

2) Install Angular CLI globally
=> npm install -g @angular/cli

3) Any IDE (example: Visual Studio Code, Intellij, Sublime, Atom)

The installation process will take quite a bit of time so we highly recommend you download these tools in advance.

6:30PM - 8:30PM: Workshop
8:30PM - 9:30PM: Q&A and Networking

Yubing Liu, Angela Choo, & Mengfei Wang

Mengfei is a UofT graduate where she achieved her Bachelor of Computer Science specializing in Software Design. She is a front-end developer at TD on the Channels WebBroker team.

Yubing Liu is a seasoned full-stack designer and developer at TD Payments Innovation team; she has broad and in-depth knowledge and experience in both front-end and back-end application development.

Angela is currently working as a front-end developer at TD in the Wealth Technology Solutions area. She is a graduate of the TD Associate program and has been with the bank since 2015. Angela holds a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo.

Please come prepared with all the necessary software installed on your laptop. If you need help with installing the software, please come early so the speakers at TD can help you set up your development environment.
