Additive Tomorrow: 3D Printing is just getting started

Apr 18, 2019 · Seattle, United States of America

This month we're partnering with the Seattle chapter of Women in 3D Printing meetup to look at how 3D printing, also known as Additive Manufacturing, is shaping the world of discrete manufacturers.

What will additive manufacturing look like tomorrow?

The layered, glue gun style, FDM 3D printers we’ve got in our garages are getting a serious upgrade. Industry 4.0 is here. In the age of edge intelligence and industrial robotics, additive manufacturing is bridging new frontiers in information, distribution, scale, materials science, and engineering. This is your opportunity to catch a glimpse of the future from industry innovators - 3D Printing is just getting started!

Agenda:
7:00pm: Networking & Community Tables
7:40pm: Call to Seats
8:00pm: Panel Begins
8:30pm: Q&A
9:30pm: Evening End

Program Manager at Microsoft Garage
Rolly leads 'The Garage' core programming in Microsoft HQ, Redmond. The Garage is Microsoft’s official outlet for experimental projects from small teams across the company to test a hypothesis, receive early customer feedback, and determine product-market fit. It is where a community of over 10,000 hackers and makers come together to work on side projects, prototype new ideas, and build with others across the company.

Bethany Weeks
Additive Engineer
Formerly, R&D Part Quality Engineer at Stratasys
Bethany has been an active member of the additive manufacturing (AM) and 3D printing communities since 2011. As a professional working at the industrial-level, she is an expert in polymer extrusion systems but also stays well-apprised of published research within all seven ASTM-identified AM categories. As a 3D printing hobbyist, she maintains her own printers, regularly produces and shares 3D models, and mentors the next generation of artists, scientists, and engineers.

Melanie Kong
Engineering/Entrepreneurship Teacher, Lake Washington School District
Co-Founder/CEO FloopEdu
Melanie is a High school STEM educator helping students create startups, co-founder/CEO of the education startup Floop, and former chemical engineer committed to improving STEM education in K-12 schools and developing creative solutions for problems in education. She specializes in entrepreneurship education, project-based instruction, inquiry-based learning, curriculum development, standards-based grading, product development, R&D, user research, and data analysis.

Sarah O’Sell
Local Ambassador, Women in 3D Printing Seattle
Co-Founder/Chief Anim8or, Anim8 Collective
With over 5 years cross-disciplinary entrepreneurial, technology, education, and design engineering leadership, Sarah hosts the Women in 3D Printing Seattle meetup, advocates for a founding triad (Business, Technology, Design), and consults in branding, graphic/industrial design, marketing, hardware MVP prototyping, and systems/network strategy.
