We have a surprise Christmas treat for you!
After our live event in November, we return to the Toucan platform in December for a virtual talk and discussion with guest speaker Rory McCune, a cloud native security advocate for Aqua.
Containers and Kubernetes have fast become facts of life for many organizations, being used to manage huge ranges of application types, seemingly magically, with the complexities of operations hidden behind APIs and services.
This talk will take a look underneath the covers, exploring some of the details of how containers and orchestration are implemented, and talk about some of the interesting security edge-cases that have emerged along the way. We'll illustrate this by demonstrating vulnerabilities of the past, look at where new issues are likely to emerge in the future and talk about some good practices to make your containerized environments more secure.
Rory is a cloud native security advocate for Aqua who has extensive experience with Cyber security and Cloud native computing. In addition to his work as a security reviewer and architect on containerization technologies like Kubernetes and Docker he has presented at Kubecon EU and NA, as well as a number of other cloud native and security conferences. He is one of the main authors of the CIS benchmarks for Docker and Kubernetes, a published author on the topic of Cloud Native Security and also developed and delivered one of the first training courses on Container security at Blackhat.
He is also an active member of the cloud native community working with both the Kubernetes project as a member of SIG-Security and the Cloud Native Computing foundation on their security technical advisory group. When he's not working, Rory can generally be found out walking and enjoying the scenery of the Scottish highlands.
