"A Cloud SAN for Splunk - IOPS, and other considerations"

Feb 22, 2017 · McLean, United States of America

Abstract:

Splunk On-Prem or Splunk Cloud?  Consider a 3rd alternatiove.   A Cloud SAN which spans on-premise and cloud storage.   On-premise Splunk indexers gets DR by default, on-premise Flash performance, Elastic by default., Snapshots for backups, and data always on the Backing Cloud < 10 minutes.

Bring a utility approach to indexed data.  Think Electricity, you don’t pay for the infrastructure (grid, polls, lines, transformers, maintenance, redundancy), just the consumption….electricity.  You plug in anywhere and you get it.

Imagine if your indexed data was like that.  You don’t pay for the storage infrastructure (Direct attached, on-premise infrastructure, lines, redundancy, complex ingress/egress fees from cloud providers, etc)  you just pay for your data once.  And you can access it from on-prem or in the cloud.  You access it anywhere its needed.
