2017 General Election & Change For A Generation - GN21 Discussion

May 25, 2017 · London, United Kingdom

Join us in our next informal discussion evening where we discuss the up coming general election and how it might change our world for a generation or more.

On June 8th we will be going to the polling station to cast our votes and many may even abstain. But the outcome could be one of the most critical for a generation – setting a signpost for our position in Europe and the World, deciding the fate of our National Health Service and social care, determining whether our children get a quality education and signing the fate of those in poverty and in need.

What sort of world will we create on June 8th for our children’s generation and ourselves? This will be the discussion that we will be holding in this informal discussion session.

These sessions are really good and the last one we held on Education was very successful and well attended.

So join us and take part in this General Election discussion but one that not only looks at what the world will look like on June 9th but also how it will determine the fate of our next generation as well.

Juilet Makhapila will be facilitating this discussion and Julliet has just run two really successful events on the impact of the SDGs on Africa – one in the House of Commons and another day and evening event in the Thistle Hotel near Euston that was full of vibrant and innovative people trying to make a difference.

These discussions that we plan to hold monthly on topics that people want or as follow ups to some of our larger meetings so that we can engage in a more informal and deliberative way.

Juilet Makhapila has agreed to co-ordinate this for us and to facilitate the evening. She would like to hold these in events in coffee bars that have been started by young people, as social enterprises, youths, unique coffee / tea/food places around london, and who would welcome open discussion. It will be a way of not only discussing important issues but also of supporting some young/youths people and underrepresented groups and starting up and finding employment. It will also be a way to experience good new places to supporting local unique food places.

So come along and join us and also contact Julliet if you would like to help out and see if we can make coffee discussions (and even tea discussions) a success for those who would like to be involved in this way.
