Learn how to train and deploy an image recognition model to your mobile phone using Python, Keras and Tensorflow.

Learn how it's done, straight from a pro!
In this 1 day workshop, you will learn to train a Neural Network that recognizes images of everyday objects and then you will deploy it to an Android device (mobile phone or tablet). You will learn:
- Train and debug neural networks for image recognition using Python and Keras
- Transform a Keras model to a Tensorflow Lite (TFLite) model
- How to use deploy your TFLite model to an Android device
- Improve your Keras model using Compression and Quantization Techniques (Advanced)

The workshop is conceived to maximize the learning experience for everyone and includes 50% theory and 50% hands-on practice.

Is lunch provided
Yes! Lunch is included.

Are there any prerequisites?
This intermediate 1 day workshops assumes you are familiar with Python and basic Machine Learning concepts. Familiarity with Deep Learning is not assumed but recommended.

Why python?
In the last few years Python has become a de-facto standard in data science and is widely adopted by most major companies.

Why Tensorflow?
There are many open source Deep Learning libraries. Tensorflow is backed by Google and is quickly becoming one of the most used libraries in the fields. It has a large and growing community of users and it is versatile and easy to learn.

Why Keras?
Keras is a nice abstraction layer for common operations and neural network modules. It allows the practitioner to focus on a higher level of understanding of how the network works and its training, without getting too distracted by the nitty-gritty details of module engineering.

Why TFLite and Android?
Android is one of the most popular mobile Operative System. TensorFlow Lite is the official solution for running machine learning models on mobile and embedded devices. It enables on‑device machine learning inference with low latency and a small binary size on Android, iOS, and other operating systems.

Fabrizio Milo is a passionate machine learning and deep learning practitioner, located in the bay area, he actively participates to various meetups on deep learning and tensorflow. He adopted tensorflow from the first releases and contributes to the project regularly. He is interested in distributed computing, knowledge graph reasoning and all things deep learning. Fabrizio holds a Master in Computer Science from the first University of Rome "La Sapienza."

Francesco Mosconi is CEO and Chief Data Scientist at Catalit Data Science. He is the author of the 5-day Zero to Deep Learning Bootcamp and book and founder of Data Weekends. Francesco works at the cutting edge of Machine and Deep Learning training, helping Fortune 500 companies to up-skill through intensive training programs and strategic advisory.
